On motion, by Mr. Benton, the resolution was further amended by adding
to the end thereof the following words: andfrom all messages, documents,
and other matters, that have since been communicated to the Senate on
the same subject.
[ On motion, by Mr. McDuffie, further to amend the resolution by adding
after the word "case" the words: the treaty and documents having been
surreptitiously made publicOn

The Senate resumed the consideration of the resolution submitted by
Mr. Crittenden, as amended, together with the amendment proposed by
Mlr. McDttffie.
On motion, by Mr. Allen, to amend the proposed amendment, by striking
out the words " surreptitiously made public," and inserting disclosed and
published without the consent of the Senate-On

The Senate adjourned.

Crittenden, and the amendment proposed thereto; and

The Senate resumed the consideration of the resolution submitted by Mr.
Crittenden the 29th of April last, together with the amendment proposed
by Mr. McDuffie, and the amendment proposed by Mr. Allen to that
amendment.
On the question, to agree to the amendment, proposed by Mr. Allen, to
the amendment,
It was determined in the negative.
The amendment proposed by Mr. McDuffie was then agreed to.
On motion, by Mr. Sevier, that the resolution, as amended, lie on the
table,
