ITEMS FROM BLAND.
The Democrat doesn't have the
pleasure of printing the news as of-
ten, it seems, as it should have. I
hope Cheesy will send in another
report soon.

plowing their corn and some are
planting cotton.

ness trip to Temple last Saturday.

a fine sorrel horse. I guess he will
run a hot box on that new surrey.
Some of the owl creek folks are
going to attend the carnival thi
week. I hope they will report a
nice time.
Mr. Tom Patton and wife have
moved down on the river.
It was reported that there would
be preaching up on the head of
Bear creek Sunday, but up to the
present time we have not had the
report of it.
So hoping this will. not find the
waste basket I will bid you adieu.

SUMMERS MILL.
As we were overshadowed by a
cloud through the recent cold wea-
ther, which prevented us from get-
ting frost bit we are still able to be
about and ready to tell what we
know, which will be very limited.
There has been some cotton
planted in this oomm'jMty of which
I think that Mr. Strange is a head
in that line as he has cotton up to a
good stand.
Mr. Jim Markham of Prairie Val-
ley was over with us a while last
Friday.
Quite a number of fat hogs were
sold this week by the farmers of
this vicinity, the sales of which
were very stimulating to their pur-
ses at this season of the year.

folks a visit Friday and returned
Sunday.
There will be a union school pic-
nic at this place on Saturday April

We hope that the trolley car on
which Bro. Bud Short is making his
extended tour to Temple will not
go in the ditch while he is out on
his trip. Should he happen to some
accident and lose his life it would
be a great calamity to Pecan Bend
as they would be left in darkness
again without any leader.
Hamp Bradford seemed to be
well pleaded as he was driving
through our streets Sunday evening
Ed Frazier is greatly encouraged
over an April fool he received the
other day, he says that if he can
find the writer and she don't go

looking Sunday night that Miss

inPrairie Valley permanently.

like to borrow Miss Ollie Hawkins'
bonnet patterns, as I hear that she
has engaged to make a bonnet for
a certain person not very far from
here; also I think t^at if she keeps
perserving, she might learn how to
cheer people up when they have
the blues."
I think from what I can hear she
has had several years of experience
Well, I guess I'll have to quit as
this is the last sheet of paper I pos-
sess, but IH manage to get some
