Pledge of Allegiance. Graff
then introduced one of last

III! announces
realignment
BY RON HOWELL
Sports Editor
Sweetwater's district
shrunk from six teams to
five when the University
Interscholastic League
announced its biennial
realignment on Monday.
But after losing Graham
and Breckenridge yet gain-
ing former Class 4A school
Big Spring, the Mustangs'
new district — 5-3A — for
the next two years looks
every bit as potent as the
current one (2-3A) that
Sweetwater has competed
in since the start of the
2008-09 school year.
Wylie, Snyder and
Brownwood — all peren-
nial playoff teams in foot-
ball who also excel in most
other sports as well —
will stay in Sweetwater's
district for the next two
years.
Big Spring and
Sweetwater haven't com-
peted in the same district
since Sweetwater dropped
to Class 3A back in 2000.

were in the same Class 4A
district for the last half of
the 1980s and most of the
1990s.

make an argument that
the new football district is,
if anything, even tougher
despite the loss of Graham,
which played for the Class
3A, Division II champion-
ship in December. Graham
is now in 6-3A along with
Bowie, Burkburnett, Iowa
Park, Vernon and Wichita
Falls Hirschi.
Why? Because the
district is also losing

Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development
(SEED) was established in 1991, by a vote of the
citizens of Sweetwater. SEED is a sales tax sup-
ported (1/2 cent) Type A economic development
organization that is charged with expanding existing
business and recruiting new businesses. As a Type
A organization, SEED is restricted to assisting "pri-
mary" employers. By the standards set out by the
State of Texas, a "primary" employer is a company
whose products or services are ultimately used in
statewide, national or international markets. Some
successes that SEED has produced through existing
business expansion are Ludlum Measurements and
Lone Star Trucking. SEED has also assisted TSTC in
their effort to build the $3.2 million transportation
facility at their West Texas campus in Sweetwater.
SEED has assisted several companies financially in
relocating or starting up in Sweetwater such as Wind
Energy Turbine Services, Georgia Pacific, Advance
Turbine Services, Texas TST, Inc - Timco Division
from California and EMA Electro Mechanica from
Argentina. SEED has also assisted companies locate
