have reason to suppose It came from John Smith, be that as it may, the
ao^is unfriendly in the, Doc^ to say the least of it the observat-
ions I complain of stand thus , . that Ma^fHunt on his arrival in
New York wag, confined in prison in prison bounds and by means not
much to his honor obtained money from a M** Ficklin under some rep-
resentation respecting Renaut Claims but that the company have been
Duped or deceived and that ^(unt has Lft them to seek out there
Salvation as they can or 3om*thing to this amount holdLng him up to
the Public as a base and dishonest man Judge what will be the
feelings of our friend. Hunt to be held up t^p the public as 3uch a

Smith things injurious to Ma^Hunt, he well knew that Smith has
