Comments Of
The Week
Just a few comments before the year begins in full force.
We cannot understand why Dr. Charles W. Benson was approved
as Region Region I Diiector over A1 Ramirez a few weeks ago. Not
that we do not believe Dr. Benson possesses the ability and the
knowledge to administer Region One, but it seems to us that why
import talent from El Paso when we have sufficient talent in our
own backyard. Ramirez was not the only applicant and the
selection was not limited to him and even if Ramirez had been the
only applicant, the Region One board should have selected local
talent. We are told Region One does not involve itself in politics -
openly anyway.
We can't understand why the Commissioners' Court is liard
headed about paying some of the newlv-elected employees their
rightful salaries. The Court seems to forget that they will not
always be in the saddle directing the action, /toother thing should

Elsadio Carrera President of
the county Farm Bureau
organization, stated that the
information to be given will be
of interest to all county
residents whether large land
owners, commercial property
owners or individuals desiring
to insure financial security for
their heirs. He further pointed
out that the subject of
