statement and appeal.
With a profound conviction that the
supreme need of all men is the re-
deeming grace of the Creator, and
that in the hour of sadness, and
death there is no comfort like that
which comes through communion
with Him; after deliberate counsel,
and earnest prayer, we. the pastors
of McKinney, in view of the recent
frightful and fatal calamity that has
shrouded our beautiful city in mourn-
ing, feel it our Christian duty to do
everything in our power to bring
back sunshine and joy into the hearts
of all who are saddened, and to help
others to find the way of life, so that
they may be ready to go when their
summons comes.
Accordingly we most. earnestly
crave the co-operation of all McKin-
ney in this effort. We note with joy
the action of fraternal societies, and
lodges in their kindly consideration,
and appreciation of the saddened con-
dition of so many of our people, and
of their sympathy shown in postpon-
ing important social functions, which
is but another evidence that all Mc-
Kinney "weeps with those who weep."
Hence we ask that social clubs, lodges
and business men give us their hearty
cooperation in this effort to bring the
people closer to God. We are, our-
selves. entering this campaign at a
time when multitudes of duties claim
our attention from other sources, but.
for Christ's sake, and the sake of
sorrowing, suffering humanity, we
are willing to leave these duties for
the present emergency.
Feeling that we have your sympa-
thy, and good wishes, and that you
will give us your personal co-operation
and support in these few days' ser-
vices. we are your obedient servants.

■njured are improving.
This (Thursday) morning just be-
fore the Examiner goes to press we
learn that those who were injured
and rescued from the wrecked build-
ing are ail gradually improving.
Walter Jennings, of near Roland,
was here yesterday and gave us a call
to renew for the Examiner for him-
self and also send a copy to his broth-
er, Ben Jennings, at Lawson, Mo.
Walter was greatly grieved over the
disaster that had befallen our city.
For many years he had done his trad-
ing at the Mississippi Store.

We call attention to the page ad of
J. H. Merritt in this issue of the Ex-

readers of the Examiner turn to his
ad elsewhere In this issue and read It
carefully. Mr. Merritt s noted for
his fair and nonest dealing, and is al-
ways appreciative of your trade.
