Carlton Odom, all of Jacksonville, Texas. He died on February 22, 1939.
D. S. Wright was born in Cookesville, Tennessee in 1865. He came to Weatherford, Texas in
1890. He died on March 29, 1939. He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.
Dr. William H. Phelps, editor of the Michigan Christian Advocate, died on June 23, 1939.
Rev. John G. Pollard of San Antonio died on July 5, 1939. Survivors include his wife and 2
daughters, Mrs. H. W. Pollard, Mrs. R.H. Todd, a brother, L.A. Pollard, three sisters, Mrs.
Fannie Ratliff, Mrs. Delia Bryant, and Mrs. F. D. Dawson and 2 grandchildren. The funeral was
held in the Woodlawn Methodist Church. Interment was in San Antonio.

Mrs. W. H. Burroughs died in Camden, Arkansas, on July 17, 1939. She was buried in Camden
on July 18, 1939. Mrs. Burroughs was the mother of Mrs. Marshall T. Steel, wife of the pastor of
Highland Park Methodist Church in Dallas.

Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Burgin, wife of Dr. S. H. C. Burgin, pastor of First Church of
Corpus Christi, died on May 16, 1939. Funeral services and interment took place in Corinth,
Mississippi.
Mrs. W. H. Edwards, mother of Mrs. A. L. (wife of Somerville, Texas pastor) died June 18,
1939, at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her husband, W. H. Edwards,
a preacher near McGregor. She is survived by a daughter, Miss Laura Edwards, and a son C. E.
Edwards. Services were held in the Austin Avenue Methodist Church in Waco.

Ed Stone Collier, born October 31, 1918, to Mr. and Mrs. Loucille Collier and died in April,
1939.
Mrs. Mary W. Shelley, wife of Peter M. Shelley, was born in Cocke County, Tennessee in 1852
and died at her home in Marble Falls, July 9, 1939. Surviving are her husband, three daughters,
Mrs. George M. Watkins, Llano, Texas; Mrs. Elmo Tate, Fairfax, Oklahoma; Mrs. Robert B.
Mayfield, Seguin, Texas; one son, Eugene Shelley, Marble Falls; nine grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. M. E. Kirk, nee Mary Ellen Pollock, was born in Tennessee on December 7, 1855, and
died on December 7, 1938. She married R. A. Kirk in 1875. She is survived by nine children; O.
R. Kirk, Ira Kirk, Marvin Kirk of California, Robert Kirk, Cain Kirk, Mrs. Mary McKennon,
Mrs. Laura Peoples, and Mrs. Jim Owenby of Texas, including grandchildren and great-8A
