CHRISTI RELATING TO CHANNEL AND
SHIPPING DISTRICT.
H. B. No. 90.] CHAPTER 42.
An Act to amend Section 6 of Chapter 68 of the Acts of the 36th Legislature,
Regular Session, 1919, relating to the fixing of the shipping
district in the area patented by virtue of said Act and providing for
determining, defining and fixing the boundary line between the
property patented by virtue of said Act and property of private citizens
along the shore line of Corpus Christi Bay; repealing all laws
in conflict herewith, and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That Section 6 of Chapter 68, General Laws of
the 36th Legislature, Regular Session, 1919, be amended so that
said Section shall hereafter read as follows:
"Section 6. The United States Government having already
established a channel across the area patented to the City of
Corpus Christi by virtue of said Chapter 68 of the Acts of the
36th Legislature, Regular Session, 1919, and having designated
the location of the Port of Corpus Christi and the shipping district,
and the Neuces County Navigation District having already
approved the establishment of said channel and location
of said shipping district, the City of Corpus Christi is hereby
authorized to designate by ordinance said Government Channel
across said area patented by virtue of authority contained in
said Chapter 68, and to likewise approve the shipping districts
as fixed by the United States Government and said Nueces
County Navigation District. The City of Corpus Christi is
hereby authorized to adjust by suit or otherwise or adopt compromise
by ordinance, determining, defining and fixing the
boundary line between the area patented by virtue of said Chapter
68 and the private property and the rights and claims of
property owners along the shore line of Corpus Christi Bay and
thereby adjust and quiet the title to said patented area for the
purposes designated in said Chapter 68 and adjust and quiet
the title of said private property owners.
SEC. 2. That all Acts and parts of Acts in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly repealed.
SEC. 3. The fact that the provisions of Chapter 68, of the
Acts of the 36th Legislature, 1919, are in conflict with the order
of the United States Government designating the channel
and locating the shipping district at the Port of Corpus Christi
and the approval of such designation and location by Nueces
County Navigation District and the fact that said patented area
under said Chapter 68 is in conflict with the established property
rights of private citizens and controversy has arisen on account
of such conflicts and the shortness of this Session create
an emergency and an imperative public necessity that the Constitutional
Rule requiring bills to be read on three several days
