McQulrelsm Is again rfcmpant In the up-

quently tired. Murderers and llro bugs
go free and the coal nnd Iron pollen
seem powerless to afford protection to
life and property. Moonlight rlllo com-
panies are drilling unmolested and the
association of miners and laborers Is
dally growing hy hundreds. It Is about
known mat me moi io aicuuiro urotner-

last April and a general outbreak Is
confidently looked for before November.

Hickory Switch Regulators.
CiiAiurxioN S. C September II. A
full account It published of the lucent
doings of hands of while regulators In
Falrlleld county showing that their
motive Is n determination to slop mis-
cegenation. Lust duly the regulators
ciuiipostil of llm best )oung men of the
county vlslled a fiinn near llldgeway
wlu re lived a whllo family named lluyle.
One of the daughters Is living openly
with n iiegrn. Two others ketit a dis-
reputable house for negrne Tho regu-
lators whipped lloylo his wife and two
daughters and wanted theiu to leave
the comity In 111 days. Ilo In begged to
be allowed to linn est his crop and on
nc o nit of his poverty ho was given
leave to do so. lint In the meantime the
original order being disobeyed the reg-
ulators gave the family another whip-
plug. Next the regulators visited par-
ties between ltldgewnv anil Wltinsborn
and whipped them badly. I.lojd Dm Is
who has a negro mistress was next vis-
ited. Ho got away. Ills furniture was
badly broken up nnd his colored family
warned to quit. Tom Davis the richest
merchant In lEhlitoway reported to be
worth $l."i.00 was given HI days to quit
beeauso he had a negro mistress. He
left Ida business In the hands of clerks
and put out for .Mississippi. Host W Il-
linois living on the other side of ltldge-
wnv wltti a degress was visited and
showed light but was severely whipped
us was his mistress nnd ordered to leave.
About 10 families alt mixed have felt
the power of the regulators so far. The
excuse tho regulators give Is that the
grand Jury does not takn cognizance of
those living In open adultery because It
Is sn hard to prove It. Tho pcoplu could
not he reached by Inw and so It was de-
termined to reach I lie Ml outside uf law.
Chief nllcnders whether warned or not
nre dissolving their establishments and
leaving and fear of exposure and pun-
ishment prevails. The regulators dis-
guise themselves while visiting by cov-
ering their faces with cloths. So weap-
ons but hickory switches have been used.
