Ittsolutlons Adopted by tho National

Philadelphia Ta. April 27. Resolved
by Irish-American people in convention as
sembled That the English Government in
Ireland originating in usurpation by force
having failed to discharge any duties of the
Government never having acquired the con-
sent of the governed has no more right what-
ever to exist in Ireland and that it is the
duty of the Irish race throughout the world to
sustain the Irish people in the employment of
all legitimate means to substitute for it na-
tional self-government. '
Resolved That we pledge our unqualified
and constant support rmral and material to
our countrymen in Ireland in their efforts to
recover material self-government and in order
to more effectually promote this object by
consolidation of nil resources and the creation
of one responsible and authoritative body to
speak for great Ireland in America that all
societies represented in this convention and all
that may hereafter comply with the conditions
of admisiionlic organized into the National
League of America'for the purpose of sup-
porting the Irish National League of Ireland
of which Charles Stewart I'arnell is Presi-
dent. Resolved That wc heartily endorse the
noble sentiments of Ilishop llutler of Lim-
erick that every stroke of Foster's savage lash
was for him a new proof of 1'arnell's worth
and an additional title for him to
the confidence and gratitude of his country-
men. Resolved That we sympathize with the la
borers of Ireland in their efforts to improve
their condition and as wc have sustained the
farmers tn their assaults upon landlord agra'
nantsm we now urge upon the farmers jus
tice and humane consideration lor laborers.
for the employment of which an Irish member
of Parliament was imprisoned. We demand
that the farmers allow laborers "a lair day s
wanes for a fair day's work."
Resolved That as the manufacture of
Great Britain are the chief source of her ma
terial greatness already declining under the
Influence ol American Competition we earn-
estly counsel our countrymen In Ireland to
buy nothing in Englaud which they can pro-
duce in Ireland or procure from America or
t ranee; and we pledge ourselves to promote
Irish manufactures by encwuracinc their im
port Into America and to use the utmost en-
deavors by a plain statement of facts and
discrimination in patronage to persuade
American tradesmen from keeping English
goods on sale.
Resolved 1 nat an English ministry os-
tentatiously liberal has earned the contempt
and detestation of fair minded men throuch-
out the world. Imprisoning more than 10000
citizens of Ireland without accusation or
trial a number of whom were noble hearted
