The President's Tbougbtfulne.s.
From tho New York Sun.
' The new member remained in town. "I
tell you what " he says "the President is a
trump. I went up to the White hous: the
oilier day to see about makin' Mariar Price's
daughter postmaster at Noith Fork and the
President he was takin' a lot of other fellers
in to lunch with him. So he says kinder
inenniy line xtirac wont you jine us and
take some lunch and a glass of wine!" So I
bowed and I said 'I'm your man Mr. Presi-
dent ' So we went in and sat down and thew
hid some of them pesky finger bowls with
lemon in tne Doitom ot them. When the raw
oysters come on they seemed mighty stingy
with their lemon so I took a nut-cracker and
I picked the lemon up and put it on my oys-
ters. They had been tellin' about the way
the President used to whoop up the boys in
New York and when they see me goin' for
the le.non some of them fellows stopped and
begun snickerin' and lafiin' but next tbirg
the President he fetched up his lemon with a
fotk and put it on his oysters and them chaps
stopped lafliin' and looked as solemn as a
funeral after that."

The brains of James II. of England have
lately been discovered at the old Scotch col-
lege In Paris. The dethroned monarch took
such interest in the seminary that he be-
queatueu to it ills Drains sad the relic was
I religiously guarded until ihe French revolu-
tion when the mob plundered both the col-
lege and the adjoining English nunnery
i Since then the treasure has been missing; but
now during some drainage opeiations a cav-
ity hat been found under the college chapel
containing both James II 's brains in a leaden
case and the heart of the Duchess of Perth.
Apparently the mob dug this cavity as a grave
for the English nuns whom tfiey intended to
masacre and flung the relics in as worthless.
They will now be quietly interred
