SEC. 2. The management and control of the public free
schools of Edom Independent School District is hereby vested
in the present board of trustees of Van Zandt and Henderson
Common County Line School District No. 93, until the next
general election for trustees of independent school districts, at
which time a board of seven trustees shall be elected. They
shall draw lots for one and two years terms and thereafter in
each even year there shall be four trustees elected and each odd
year there shall be three trustees elected.
SEC. 3. The Edom Independent School District shall have
all the powers and privileges of and shall be subject to the
General Laws of this State in so far as they are applicable; and
the board of trustees of the Edom Independent School District
shall have and exercise, and is hereby vested and charged with
all the rights, powers, privileges and duties conferred and imposed
by the General Laws of this State upon the trustees of independent
school districts.
SEC. 4. The management and control of the Edom Independent
School District shall be under the control of the County
Superintendent of Public Instruction and Board of Education
of Van Zandt County as to any and all laws and regulations
provided for in the General Statutes of Texas, hereby divesting
the County School Superintendent of Public Instruction of Henderson
County, Texas, and the County Board of Education of
Henderson, County, Texas, of any right or power to exercise any
kind of control over said Edom Independent School District
created by this Act.
SEC. 5. The fact that there exists an urgent demand for the
immediate creation of this school district creates an emergency
and an imperative public necessity that the constitutional rule
requiring bills to be read on three several days be suspended and
that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its passage
and said rule is hereby suspended, and it is so enacted.
[NOTE.-The enrolled bill shows that the foregoing Act passed
the House, 106 yeas, 0 nays; passed the Senate, 30 yeas, 0 nays.]
