S.C.R. No. 7 1 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas is pleased to 3 recognize Dr. Richard R. Moore on the occasion of his retirement 4 from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi in August of 2004 after 40 5 years of loyal and distinguished service; and 6 WHEREAS, Since joining Del Mar College in 1964, Dr. Moore has 7 played a significant role in the college's growth and development; 8 he progressed through the academic ranks to become professor of 9 history and to serve as chair of the History Department for 10 10 years; and 11 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Moore demonstrated his 12 commitment to the mission of the college and carried out his many 13 academic responsibilities with superior judgment and acumen; he 14 actively participated on numerous committees and was elected 15 chairman of the Faculty Council; and 16 WHEREAS, Professor Moore is well known throughout the 17 community for generously devoting time and energy to civic 18 organizations; he served as both president and vice president of 19 the South Texas Historical Association, as vice president of the 20 Coastal Bend Archeological Committee, and as chairman of the Corpus 21 Christi American Revolution Bicentennial Commission; and 22 WHEREAS, Dr. Moore has written numerous academic articles and 23 is the author of West Texas After the Discovery of Oil and a 24 coauthor of the History of Nueces County and The Heritage of Texas;
