elected in accordance with the provisions of the General Laws governing
the election of trustees in independent school districts.
SEC. 3. The Boyce Independent School District created by this
Act shall have and exercise and is hereby vested with all the rights,
powers, privileges, duties and liabilities of a town or village incorporated
under the General Laws of the State for free school
purposes only.
SEC. 4. All maintenance taxes heretofore voted or bonds heretofore
issued by the former Boyce Independent School District included
within the bounds of said independent school district as herein
created shall remain in full force and effect in so far as the creation
of this district might in any manner affect the same.
SEC. 5. The fact that the schools of the Boyce Independent School
District are now Without adequate support, creates an emergency
and an imperative public necessity that the constitutional rule requiring
bills to be read on three several days be suspended and said
rule is hereby suspended and this Act shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage, and it is so enacted.
NOTE-The enrolled Bill shows that the foregoing Act passed
the Senate, 27 yeas, nays 0, and passed the House of Representatives,
110 yeas, nays 0.]
[The foregoing Act was presented to the Governor of Texas for
his approval on the 12th day of February, A. D. 1923, but was not
signed by him nor returned to the House in which it originated,
with his objections thereto, within the time prescribed by the Constitution,
and thereupon became a law without his signature.]
Effective February 24, 1923.
