SEC. 3. The Jarrell Common School District No. 12 in Nueces
County, Texas, as herein created and established shall be governed
by the General Laws of the State of Texas regulating
common school districts save and except as affected by the provisions
hereinafter contained relating to the assumption by the
Jarrell Common School District No. 12 as a whole of the bonded
indebtedness now outstanding and legally chargeable against
that portion formerly forming a part of the Petronila Common
School District.
SEC. 4. All funds now on hand to the credit of Common
School District No. 12 as established by commissioners' court of
Nueces County, May 13, 1913, by order of said court as aforesaid,
or that may hereafter be collected for the benefit of said
district are hereby vested in and declared to be the property
and funds of Jarrell Common School District No. 12 of Nueces
County as herein established.
SEC. 5. Upon petition of twenty, or a majority of the property
tax-paying voters of Jarrell Common School District as
herein created, the county judge of Nueces County, Texas, shall
order an election to be held in said common school district, to
determine whether or not said Jarrell Common School District
as a whole as herein created, shall assume as its obligation the
just proportion of the eight thousand ($8,000.00) dollars of
outstanding bonded indebtedness formerly incurred by the
Petronila Common School District No. 7 in Nueces County,
Texas, legally chargeable against that portion of Jarrell Common
School District No. 12 as herein created, that formerly
belonged to and composed a part of Petronila Common School
District No. 7 and whether or not a tax shall be levied on all
property in said Jarrell Common School District NQ. 12 as
herein created, subject to taxation therein, sufficient to pay the
interest on and create the necessary sinking fund for such
proportion of said bonds if assumed.
It is hereby stipulated that the eight thousand ($8,000.00)
dollars outstanding indebtedness shall be reduced to the extent
of the sinking fund to the credit of Petronila Common School
District No. 7 at the time this debt is prorated.
Said election, heretofore provided for, shall be held in said
Jarrell Common School District No. 12 between the hours of
eight o'clock a. m. and six o'clock p. m. and the county judge,
when ordereing such election, shall appoint two judges and two
clerks for the holding of such election, one of said judges to be
designated as, and to act as presiding officers of such election.
Notice of such election shall be given by the county judge by
posting notices thereof in three public places in said district
for three weeks before the date set for such election. Only
qualified property tax-paying voters resident in said district
shall be allowed to vote at such election.
The ballots for said election shall have written or printed
thereon the following:
"For the assumption of bonds and the levy of tax therefor"
or "Against the assumption of bonds and the levy of tax there-
