with us and sharing their special

May 8 we had another Jackpot
Bingo Winner, Exilé Hughes. The
pot had been building for seven
weeks. Washer Toss tie breakers
were Willie Belle Geisert and Ethel
McKnight.
Mothers honored with a corsage
on Sunday May 14 were the Oldest
Mother, OUie Stewart; the
Youngest Mother, Exile Hughes;
and the Mother with the most
children were Essie Pool and Exile
Hughes.
Grand Opening
set in Rusk
Re-grand opening is set for Thur-
sday, June 1, at Bill's Dollar Store
in Rusk.
The entire store is in the process
of being remodeled, with the com-
plete store and stock upgraded.
Grand opening specials will be of-
fered to shoppers with new specials
every week.
New manager, John Hadley, will
be coming to Rusk from Lafayette,
La., where he has been employed
since 1977 by TG&Y. He was for-
merly a trouble shooter for Bill's.

United Methodist Church, Alto,
along with Carmen Black, Ruby
Maddux, Tom Black and Mary
Danheim hosted a "Sip and Say"
with residents of Carriage Park
Nursing Center. Homemade
cookies and punch were served.
Residents enjoyed a full day of
festivities beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Sunday Morning in recognition of
Mother's Day. Morning worship
was under the direction of Brother
Collins, accompanied by Mr. and
Mrs. John Cook, Mr. Rapin and
Francis Penice.
At 2 p.m.. residents heard a
special message from Brother Paul
Stalnaker, also accompanied by
Mrs. Stalnaker, At 3 p.m„ "The
Golden Eagles Dixieland Banjo
Due" arriving from Shreveport,
Louisiana entertained residents
and families. Refreshments were
served following the show.
Mrs. Ether McGaughey is
Carriage Park's oldest mother and
Mrs. Lillian Hollis has the most
children.
Residents and staff are looking
foward to a full week of activities
for Nursing Home Week. If you

Nathan Chandler Findley
Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Findley of
La Marque, Texas, announce with
Joy the birth of a new grandson,
Nathan Chandler, on Thursday,
April 13, 1989. He weighed nine
pounds and five ounces and is 21 in-
ches long. He is welcomed by big
sister Erin Michelle, and by proud
parents, Dr. and Mrs. James
(Tamra) Findley, Jr. Piano, Texas,
along with Great Grandmother,
Mrs. Mittie Findley of Alto, Texas.

Hassell, 81, of Bulah were at 10 a.m.

Graveside services for Minnie
Payne Lambert, 94, will be held at 2
p.m. Friday, May 19, in Lakeview
Garden Cemetery in Wichita, Kan-
sas. Local arrangements are
through Boren-Conner Funeral
Home, Jacksonville.
Ms. Lambert died Sunday in a
Rusk Hospital from a sudden
illness. She was born in Clarksville,
Texas March 27, 1895 and was a
member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Roy
Lambert, Rusk and Felix Lambert,
Celah, Washington; six gran-
dchildren; and nine great-
grandchildren.

Burial was at Cedar Hill
Cemetery, Rusk.
Mr. Hassell died Sunday morning
in a Jacksonville hospital after a
lengthy illness.
He was born July 18,1907, in Den-
son Springs. He was a lifelong
resident of Rusk and a member of
Rusk Euclid Lodge No. 45 where he
was a Mason for 45 years. He was a
retired nurses aide at Rusk State
Hospital.
He was a member of Adams
Chapel Methodist Church at Bulah
and a veteran of World War II, ser-
ving in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Mary Bell Hassell, Bulah com-
munity; a son and daughter-in-law,
Jerry and Linda Hassell, Texas
City; two sisters, Annie Mae
Moseley, Rusk and Lottie Sullivan,
Nacogdoches; two grandchildren,
Woody and Judy Hassell, Texas
City; and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Hilton Hassell,
Leahmon Hassell, Morris Moseley,
Marvin Moseley, C.C. Taylor Jr.,
McDonald Parsons, Alvin Shattuck
and Robert Holcomb.
Masons served as honorary
pallbearers.
If desired, memorials may be
made to the American Cancer
Society for research or church of
one's choice.
Mrs. Madie Munsinger
Services for Mrs. Madie Lee
Munsinger, 70, of Jacksonville were
at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bailey & Foster
Funeral Home chapel at Palestine
with the Rev. Donald Hefner and
the Rev L.D. Sellers officiating.
Burial was in Elkhart Garden of
Memories Cemetery.
Mrs. Munsinger died in a
Whitehouse care center Friday.
A native of Palestine, she was a
member of First Assembly of God
Church in Rusk.
She is survived by her husband,
P.F. Munsinger of Jacksonville;
five daughters, Elian Wilson of
Jacksonville, Myrtle Baker,
Pauline Costlow and Charlsey
Jakubik of Whitehouse, and
Virginia Woodall of Tyler; four
sons, Paul J. Munsinger of Alvin,
Curtis Munsinger of Jacksonville,
Donald R. Munsinger of Palestine
and Billy Munsinger of Chicksha,
Okla.; three sisters, Mossey Brooks
of Elkhart, Hazel Squiers of Tyler
and Louise Walling of Palestine;
two brothers, Wesley and T.W.
Congleton of Palestine; 19 gran-
dchildren; and 13 great-
grandchildren.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Interstate Bank from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. The paintings will be on
exhibit all day Friday, 1 p.m. until 5
p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Judging of the show will be Thurday
afternoon by Daniel Adams. Adams
is on the staff of the Art Department
of Lon Morris College. A critique of
the paintings will follow the
presentation of the special awards
by the local clubs and merchants
Thursday evening.
A painting donated by Jody
Broiles will be raffeled off Sunday
afternoon. Announcement for the
People's Choice award will also be
announced Sunday afternoon.
All artists in the area are en-
couraged to submit their work in
oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor and
graphic. All work must be framed
and ready to hang.
Work day set May 20
There will be a work day Satur-
day, May 20, at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
An early start is called for with
workers scheduled to meet at 7 a.m.
