Have you ever wondered how to
prepare some of the unusual fruits
and vegetables you see in the
grocery store these days? Then
plan to attend the Lunch & Learn
Program on Thursday, May 18,1989
beginning at 12 Noon. The program
will be held in the Conference Room
of the Professional Office Building
at Nan Travis Hospital. Bring your
brown bag lunch and be with us for
an hour of tips and preparation,
nutritional content, selection, and
storage of unusual fruits and
vegetables. An opportunity to sam-
ple will be provided.
Speakers will be: Tanya Bush,
Dietician, Nan Travis Hospital and
Linda Bear, Cherokee County Ex-
tension Agent-Home Economics.
The program is open to all in-
terested persons and sponsored by
the Texas Agricultural Extension
Service and Nan Travis Memorial
Hospital.
Educational programs conducted by the Texas
Agricultural Extension Service serve people of all
ages regardless of socio-economic level, race,
color, sex, religion, handicap or national origin.
Former Ruskite recipient of award
Cynthia Burlingame Martin,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman
Taylor, Rusk, was the recipient of a
Special Achievement award for
outstanding scholastic achievement
and a demonstrated interest in the
field of Accounting. She attends
California Baptist College in River-
side, California.
CBC submitted the credentlSls of
Cynthia L. Martin to the Society
based on her achievements and
grade point average. She will
graduate with Summa Cum Laude
honors with a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Accounting and
Mathematics. As a member of
Alpha Chi, the National Honor
Society, she was selected for Who's
Who in American Colleges and
Universities. She is a member of
the Student Chapter of the Society
for California Accountants.
A 1972 graduate of Rusk High
School, she was Band Sweetheart
during her Senior Year. After
graduation she attended East
Texas Baptist University where she
was recipient of the "Tiger Day"
Award Scholarship in Mathematics
and was Homecoming Dutchess.
She also attended Oklahoma State
University.
She is married to The Reverend
Everett C. (Bo) Martin ill, pastor
of the First Southern Baptist Chur-
ch in Bellflower, Ca. They have two
children; Cliff IV, age 10 and
Carissa, age seven. She is the gran-
daughter of Mrs. Jewel Hesser of
San Antonio, formerly of Rusk.

Mrs. Everett C. Martin, Jr.,

Austin couple wed at Alto v.f.w. slates
Miss Jamie Lea Linneman
became the bride of Chester Ludka
Jr., at 2 p.m. March 4, at the Cold
Springs United Methodist Church,
Alto. The Rev. Paul Stalnaker of-
ficiated for the double ring
ceremony at the church altar.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Roert E. Cummings of
Alto and the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Chester Ludka of Bul ver-
de, Tx.
"Just You and I" was sung by
Mrs. Darnold Nelson, aunt of the
bride, from Moberly, Mo. and
Kevin Crow, cousin of the bride
from Columbus, Ohio.
Vows were repeated at the church
altar decorated with a large white
urn filled with mixed white flowers
of cola lilies, roses, carnations and
ivy with large black satin bows at
the front of the church. Family
pews were marked with black satin
bows.

For her wtedding, the bride chose
a floor length gown of white satin
with pearls, beads a Ad sequins. The
long tapered sleeves came to petal
points. The chapel length train fell
from a low point back neckline. Her
veil of illusion was attached to a
white billbox. She carried a cascade
bouquet of white roses, miniature
white carnations, English ivy cen-
tered with a star gazer lily.
Stephanie Kay Linneman of
Lufkin served as her sister's maid
of honor. Melissa Crow, the bride's
cousin from Columbus, Sherri
Standley of Lufkin and Pam
Holland of Dallas were
bridesmaids. Little Leah Nicole
Linneman of Alto, the sister of the
bride was flower girl. Jonathan
Ludka, nephew of the groom from
Corpus Christi was ring bearer.
The bride's attendants wore long
sleeve fitted velveteen tea length
ensembles with white moire taffeta
ruffles and white bows. They
carried a single cola lily with black
satin bows. The maid of honor
carried a cluster of cala lilies with a
black bow. The flower girl wore a
ballerina length gown of black
velveteen with a white moire taf-
feta ruffle at the neck. She carried a
fluted basket covered with black
velveteen and white ruffles filled
with white petals.
Steve Gibbs of Bulverde, Tx. was
best man. David Fontenot of
Austin, Robert Backlund of Victoria
were groomsmen. Ushers were
Robert Ludka and Larry Ludka,
both brothers of the groom, of Cor-
pus Christi. Scott Cummings, bor-
ther of the bride from Alto.
;„A reception in the church
fellowship hall followed the wed-
ding. The three tiered wedding cake
was accented with a floral center-
piece of white gladioli in a black
vase. Tables were covered with
white lace, accented with black
bows.
Following a wedding trip to
Europe the couple will be at home
in Austin. The bride is attending the
University of Texas. The groom
holds a degree in radio, television
and film from the University of
Texas at Austin.

MR. AND MRS. CLINTON EDWARDS will be honored at a
reception and shower at Rusk Federal Savings and Loan from
3 to 6 p.m. May 27. Friends and family are invited. The couple
was married on Feb. 11 in Augusta, Ga. The bride, the former
Lisa Humphrey, is the daughter of Betty Humphrey of Rusk
and L. D. Humphrey of Diboll. The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Julian Berryhill of Rusk and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Edwar-
ds of Jacksonville.

California Society of Certified
Public Accountants, Citrus Belt
Chapter. Over three hundred atten-
ded the banquet given for all
students currently graduating in
the field of accounting. Seventeen
area Colleges and Universities in-
cluding California State University
were in attendance. The Society
also awarded to each of the ten
recipients a check for two hundred
dollars.
