J.C. Tatum was the first person that B.lac. SLd interviewed.
That was in January, 1975. At that time he recorded his original
poem called " Matrimony". However, it was accidentally erased.
For this issue, he kindly recorded the poem for us again.
It is printed on the next page. To introduce his poem, BLACK
GOLD asked PJC student, Mary Ann Reed, to let them reprint her
vignette, " Four Kinds of Men." BLACK GOLD felt that they go
together. What do you think?
There are four kinds of men. The first is the type that most
all the girls fall for: the goodtimer-- the one who has the face
that makes him able to Let any woman he wants. He is the type that
women spend their money on. He is the playboy or pimp. He is never
serious.
The second is the kind that wants to be like the playboy but
doesn't quite know how. He has to buy his clothes and flashy cars,
but the pimp doesn't have to. He is the type that wants to be some-
one else. He is better known as the Turkey.
The third is the type that's not a playboy or a Turkey. He is a
bumb, not a wine-os but a " popper." He gets his kicks by getting
high on anything he can Let his hands on. He expects his women to
try everything that he tries. Soon they are both addicted.
The fourth is the type that have done what the second and third
have done, but not as strongly. He will not let his women get in-
volved. However, he soon realizes what the others do is not his
things And to make it, he has to be himself. He realizes that liv-
ine his life the way that he feels is right is the only way to make
it.54
