Fort Bend. Mr. Neill located land on brays bayou
ten 10 miles from Houston. Mr. Bell lives on
rented land will move since the cotton gin on
Stafford plantation was burned there is no use
for the farmers to rase cotton. they would have
to haul it 25 miles to get it gined. no one will build
agin till the trouble with Mexico is settled. Gen
Santa Anna is still a prisoner. Father seen him
afew days ago at Doctor Felphis near Columbia.
Stephen F Austin died Early in December but
we didnt heare the sad news till Fathe returned
from Columbia

Father is planting corn. says there will be a market
for corn as ther will be agreat many people
Coming to texas this year. the planters from the
State of Missis-sippi and louisiana ar moveing to
texas. Congress has Appointed Judges and divide
texas in to Judical districts. Court will be held in
Houston in March as that tow will be the County
seat of Harris-burg County. Congress will meet
Houston in May. the land offic had Close at San
felipe by the Mexican goverment in the year 34
thirty four. Father and Colonel Travis the hero of
the A was in San felipe at the time Fathe didnt
locate land. the land offic will be opend the first
of June in Houston. Father is going to locate land
on Brays bayou five miles from Houston will
move there this summer. we are very sorr to
move having lived here since January 34 but as
Father will get a home and as Houston is near
the Change will be for the best. Mrs. West will
remane she has alarg stock of cattle. don't pay
any rent. she is satisfied Father advised her to
locate land but all land thats near has been grabedby land speculators that have swarmed in from
the United Stats.

Rose was summons by the sheriff John W. More
the sheriff of Harrisburg Couty on the Grand-
Jury. the jury sit an alog under an arber of pine
bushes. the Sheriff John W More had been the
Alcalde under the mexican goverment. there has
been an-other act in the Bell and West tragedy.
Mrs West went before the Grand-Jury and had
Mr. Bell Indicted for the murder of her husband.
he Mr. Jospeh Bell was the first man tried in
Houston for murder. he was acquited. had been
tried at Harrisburg for the same crime before
Judg David G. Burne in year thirty four 34 and
pronounced not guilty. poor man. he has had so
much trouble he will leav this part of texas. Father
says he went out on brays bayou and cut his
name on a pine tree will camp ther soon and
build a Corn Crib so he can clam the land. one of
Mr. Woodruf step daughters Mis Mary Smith is
married she married Mr McClurey they are the
first cople to marry in Houston. the yung men in
Houston are prepaing to giv agrand ball on the
21 of April the dancin will be in the Capitol
building if they get the representativ hall so it
can be used

Grand Jury adjourned he said if possible he would
take us to the ball on the 21 of April in Houston.
