The cover photograph shows Robert W. Brown, Jr. (standing at far left), a graduate of
Eagle Lake High School, his nine man crew, and their B-24 Liberator bomber. On December 20,
1 943, Brown and eight of the other men were killed in action over Bulgaria.

Joe C. Fling is a native of Garwood and a lifelong resident of Colorado County. He serves
as Assistant Colorado County Attorney, and is the founding pastor of Living Hope Church in Eagle
Lake. He has published three religioius treatises, including People of Hope.
