KRUPKA
ADDITIONCourt of Colorado County formally accepted it on November 14, 1955. The Hodde
Subdivision contained 36 lots and one new, unnamed road, since known as King Drive,
which ended at Montezuma Street (then known as the Gonzales Road) to the south and,
after making a ninety-degree turn, Oak Cluster Drive to the east. The subdivision
occupied about three-fourths of the 40.82 acre tract acquired by the Hoddes in the
division of the Frank Leo Becica estate, leaving the northern end of the property
undeveloped.32
In 1956, Bernice Elizabeth (Becica) Krupka and her husband, Vincent J.
Krupka, also laid out a subdivision on the property they had acquired from her father,
albeit at first only a small one. They laid off 16 lots on 15.693 acres, a plat accepted
by the Commissioners Court on July 9, 1956. Their subdivision was bounded by
Highway 90 on the north, and divided by a single, unnamed road, which is now known
as Krupka Street. In 1966, 1970, and 1981, the subdivision was expanded. On
December 12, 1966, both the county and the city accepted the plat of a 13.513 acre,
16 lot addition to the subdivision, which contained three new streets, Becica Drive,
Mesquite Street, and Short Street. In 1970, a second addition to the subdivision, 12
lots on 11.246 acres, was laid out. The county accepted the plat, which extended
Mesquite and Short Streets and created Fairview Street, on February 8, 1971. Finally,
in 1981, two lots, numbered 45 and 46, were described in a previously vacant area east
of Fairview Street.33
