truck was taken in that

Mrs Hardy was born in
Gallatin Aug 5. 1900 and
had lived in Houston the
past 17 years She was a
housewife and member of
the Southeast Church of
Christ, Houston. She died
Monday in a Houston hospi-
tal after an extended ill-
ness
Survivors include two
sons. Virgil E and Elvis H.
Hardy, both of Houston;
one daughter, Mrs Eldena
Knox of Houston; sister-in-
law, Mrs. Beaulah Henry' of
Austin; five grandsoms
and two great grandchild-
ren; also several nieces
and nephews.
Pallbearers were Irvin
Henry, Wilburn Rowe,
Leigh ton Rowe, Charles
Gentry, Jerry Gentry and
Charles McEntire
Mrs. Dement
Funeral services for
Mrs Elan R. Dement, 77,
of Rt . 2, Rusk were held at 2
p.m Tuesday in the Wal-
lace-Thompson Chapel.
Rev. Roy Gilbert officiated
and burial was in Taylor
Cemetery near Gallatin.
Mrs. Dement died Mon-
day in Nacogdoches Nurs-
ing Home. She was a life-
long resident of Cherokee
County, member of the
Baptist faith and a retired
employee of Rusk State
Hospital.
Survivors include one
son, Charles Dement of
Nacogdoches; two bro-
thers, W. C. Roberts and
Clarence Roberts of Jack-
sonville; three sisters,
Mrs Frankie Pippins of
Jacksonville, Mrs. Hugh
White of Jasper and Miss
Lou Ann Roberts of Jack-
sonville, also six grand-
children
Pallbearers were Jerry
DeFoor, W D DeFoor,
Vertís Dement, Melvin
Magee, E. L DeFoor and
Alfred Roberts

were charged with speed-
ing in the court of Justice of
the Peace Abner Webb.
Other charges listed inclu-
ded five for public intoxica-
tion, five for failure to
appear, three for hunting
wild squirrel in closed sea-
son; three for no drivers
license, two for no motor
vehicle inspection slicker,
two for criminal trespass
and one each for unsafe
speed, drinking in public
and illegal fishing.
