S.B. No. 1982
1 AN ACT
2 relating to the licensing and regulation of pool-related electrical
3 maintenance.
4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
5 SECTION 1. Section 1305.002, Occupations Code, is amended
6 by amending Subdivisions (12-a), (12-b), (12-c), (12-d), and (12-e)
7 and adding Subdivisions (14), (15), and (16) to read as follows:
8 (12-a) "Residential appliance" means a pool-related
9 electrical device, or equipment that:
10 (A) is installed as a unit in a single-family or
11 multifamily dwelling that does not exceed four stories;
12 (B) is directly connected to an electrical
13 circuit; and
14 (C) performs a specific function.
15 (12-b) "Residential appliance installation" means
16 electrical work that is limited to the connection or disconnection
17 of a residential appliance, including a pool-related electrical
18 device, to an existing electrical circuit other than by inserting
19 or removing a plug from an electrical outlet.
20 (12-c) "Residential appliance installation
21 contracting" means the business of residential appliance
22 installation, including pool-related electrical maintenance.
23 (12-d) "Residential appliance installation
24 contractor" means a business entity, other than an electrical1
