Southwestern Historical Quarterly

Omission of some writers who have treated the subject before,
such as Alfredo Chavero, is noted.
The last seventeen pages of the book contain an interesting
description, together with a reproduction, of the sixteenth century
Codex of Tlaltelolco, by Robert H. Barlow. The Codex deals
with events of the years 1554 to 1562 and contains interesting
references to such matters as the Mixt6n War. A bibliography
relating to the subject is included.

To the Macmillan Inter-American Series has recently been
added A History of Latin America for Schools, by Samuel Guy
Inman and C. E. Castafieda. In this book the authors have made
an effort to guide the pupil along four different routes. In
Part I, "Preview to a Continent," he is introduced to the people
of Latin America and to their land. Part II, "The Background
of a Continent," approaches the subject from the standpoint of
history. In Part III, "The International Life of a Continent,"
the authors describe trade and cultural relations. Part IV, "The
Expression of a Continent," tells something about the thought
life of the Latin Americas as manifested in the artistic forms of
the people. The book has 442 pages including a chronology of
outstanding events in Latin-American history from 1492-1942,
a list of available source materials, and an adequate index.
