Chas. D. Dixon, M. D.
City, Mo., advertised through the papers all over the coun-
try, and in a few cheap medical journals.
After exposure the authorities made a chemical analysis
of this great "cancer cure" with the following results:
Prescription No. D.-A simple alterative preparation
somewhat resembling sarsaparilla.
Prescription No. 4.-Found to consist of almond oil mixed
with cotton seed oil, and a small quantity of oil of bitter
almond.
Prescription No. 120.-Compressed tablets composed of
talcum and sugar.
Prescription No. 90.-Vaseline.
Prescription No. 220.-A preparation resembling cata-
plasma kaolina, U. S. P. (clay poultice).
The results of this analysis show that the treatment
furnished by these reprobates cannot by any possibility ac-
complish the results claimed for it in the cure of cancer.
The agents of which it is composed have long been known to
the medical profession, but notwithstanding this fact no
reliable authority makes the claim that, taken singly, or
together, they can be relied on for the cure of cancer. On
the contrary, the fact is generally recognized among medical
authorities, that there is no substance or mixture of sub-
stances known at the present time which can be relied on for
this purpose. In view of these facts it would appear that
all "cancer cures" are not conducted in good faith, but
for the purpose of obtaining money from credulous in-
dividuals through false and fraudulent representations with-
out any intention of rendering an adequate return. Among
other "cancer cure" fakes are the Buckhannan Cancer Cure,
the Chamlee Cancer Cure, the Curry Cancer Cure, the Leach
Cancer Cure, the Drs. Mixer Cancer Cure, Radio Sulpho
Cancer Cure, the Toxo Absorbent Cure, Demis Dupis (alias)
Dr. Rupert Wells Cancer Curt.
One of these fakers' advertisements appears as follows:
"I can cure cancer at your home without pain, plaster or
operation. I have discovered a new and unfailing remedy
for the deadly cancer. I have made some most astonishing
cures. My marvelous radiotized fluid did it. No matter
what your condition may be, do not hesitate to write." To43
