The Menace
Double Billing of the Great Goat Lymph Treatment.
In all the cases heretofore described, they would order
the medicine from the house, and have them rebill it to him.
For instance, the house would send one bill for twenty-eight
dollars and fifty cents, per ounce, for the benefit of the
patient, and one to the doctor for two dollars and seventy-
five cents, the real cost of the stuff. This concern is con-
ducted by a renegade doctor in Chicago, and is known as
the American Animal Therapy Company, and caters to the
advertising fakers only.
STOTTS AND COMPANY DISPENSARY.
They maintained a dispensary, where they dispense their
wonderful "cures." They manufacture at this dispensary
their wonderful "Elixir SanAntonioanus." This is their
wonderful come-back medicine, and when they prescribe
this (and they always prescribe it for everything) the pa-
tient always comes back to get it refilled. It is almost
whisky, and any man who takes it can get on a jag. They
make it by the barrel. The prescription calls for four
pounds of sugar, one quart of alcohol and Aqua San Anto-
nioanus q. s. cong ii, or in English sufficient to make two
gallons, colored with cherry. They would get from one to
five dollars per ounce for this wonderful medicine, and the
patient would always come back for more.34
