Tremaine at the Opera House last
night, was one of the most entertain-
ing things of its kind ever witnessed
in Sherman, and the house was filled

first scene was in Galveston, and the

ed interest in the cause of publio edu-
cation in Texas, From the cities and

the Bankers and Merchants Insurance
company, has been occupying the at
tention of the District Court all day.
This is a caso whero the plaintiff sues
for the amount of tho polioy held by
ber husband in said company at his
death, which occurred in Sherman
sometime since.

The Denison olub arrived in the
city this afternoon shortly bofore 8
o'olock, in private conveyances, fn
which, accompanied by a delegation
from the Sherman club, they went to
the grounds in the Mrs. Bon Moore
field, where the game is now in
progreaa. At this hour the game is
evenly matched.

The wheat crop was never finer
than it is now, and the hoads are
remarkably well developed, and, as a
rule, there is very little growth of
weeds in it. It is said that, harvest
ing will commence early in June,
shortly after if not on tho first. It is
estimated that the yield will be fully
26 per cent, groatcr than it was last
year.
The oat crop which was a failure
last year will not be so this year, and
the reporter learns of farmers who
are practical, and who have been over
the" county, that tho yield«will be very
large. The blades are very strong
