JOHN CLAY
Incumbent Ugliest Man
Jake and Dorothy's Cafe in Ste-
phenville.
In a J-Tac interview, sophomore
John Clay, TSC's incumbent Ug-
lies Man, indicated last week that
he expects to have his hat in the
ring sometime this week.
Clay, regarding his chances of
victory in the race this year, ex-
pressed some doubt about taking
the polls by a landslide for the
second consecutive time. "Last
year was the first year we had
had one," he said. "This year, there
will be a lot of guys who have
been disappointed in their social
achievements, and whoever wins
the contest can have a date with
anyone they want. I think more
of them realize that this year, and
so there will be more competition,"
Barham declined to verify Clay's
statement that this year's Ugliest
Man will be entitled to a date
with any coed he chooses, although
he did indicate that the J-Tac will
make a later statement concern-
ing the question. The Ugliest Man
last year was given a date with
his choice of 10 TSC coeds.
Asked whether he thought the
contest was worthwhile, the Ug-
liest Man said, "If they can win.
it will be worthwhile, providing
they can get another date." There
are some hazards, however, Clay
continued. "Sometimes people don't
realize you're as ugly as you are
until you enter. Then they get to
looking at you and think, 'By Gol,
i he is ugly',"
Room in the dining hall. A meet-
ing with the boys at Bender Hall
will be held at 0:30 Wednesday
evening-. Pastor Thiele will also be
available for private conferences
which should be made by appoint-
ment.
Members of the Inter-Faith
council attending the meeting
were, Bev Cawyer and Lancll
Jones representing the Church of
Christ, Jean Hendricks and David
Chatfield representing the Epis-
copal Church, Nancy Driver and
Pete Stanford attended for the
Baptist Church, and Jorge Parr
and Larry Hebison represented the
Catholic Church. Also attending
