Ever dear friend,

I received your letter on Monday eve, but Emma, I have been so very busy I could not answer before. I went to Terrell on Tuesday and never returned untill Wednesday evening nearly night. And have been so busy since I could not write. If it had not rained this morning, I could not have answered you for I would have had to help a neighbor thresh wheat. I was doubly glad to hear from you, first, because I thought you had quit writing, excuse me for saying it, but Emma, I had the blues most miserably bad. And the
