Well, you know the saying, "Truth hurts", so she got terribly mad. I left her mad, and went to a singing.
I went to Dallas last weekend, and in getting a switch on the road, I lost the watch charm you gave (anchor) off my chain. I hunted for a good while and was beginning to think it was gone but finally found it in the grass. I would have hunted all day, or found it.
Emma, you are so constantly in my thoughts. Not an hour during the day but what I think of you and at night you are ever in my dreams, making them sweet and precious. Now, Emma, goodbye for this time, but write soon and oh! so soon for you don't know how I long for your sweet words of hope and joy to a poor lonely boy. I remain your dearest and most devoted Friend,
