Emma,
My best Friend

I received your most welcome and thrice perused letter by this evening's mail. I have haunted the P. Office every day for nearly a week in expectation of a letter from you but have been disappointed every time untill this eve; when I had intended not to expect a letter but on riding up to the office I looked through the window I saw your letter in the box. I knew the envelope, and Oh! Emma, you don't know how happy I was. I felt like yelling
