THREE DIFFERENT WORLDS—Representing three distinct areas of the world are students
chatting prior to the concert presented by the International Club. From left to right are Mei-Ling
Lay, freshman from Panama City, Panama; Carol Kuruhara, freshman from Hilo, Hawaii, and
Marshall Martin, sophomore from Dallas.
"We're the best in the Jack-
ets' hive; we're the Class of
'65."
Now that the Freshman Class
is officially organized with Its
own representative officers, let's
become better acquainted with
the elected leaders of this year's
freshman class.
President Benny Brink, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Brink,
Manltou, Okla., is a 1961 grad-
uate of Manltou High School.
This ministerial student, whose
major Is religious education,

The largest number of sum-
mer missionaries ever to be
sent by the Texas Baptist Stu-
dent Union will be sent out
this summer, according to ad-
vance planning.
Thirty-seven student summer
missionaries will be placed In
service all over the world. The
students selected to serve will
be chosen by local and state-
wide screening boards and will
be sent to such places as Africa,
Jordan and places within our
own borders. This same program
has been carried on by the BSU

student missions program for
the summer of 1961 was the
Project Understanding Choir
which toured the Orient. Karen
Carpenter of HP served as a
member of the small but dy-
namic group.
The project this year, which
Is on a larger scale than that
of last summer wiU cost ap-
proximately $18,000. All of this
money, as in previous years,
will come from the contribu-
tions of students on all Texas
college campuses.
This program is not exclus-
ively for those preparing and
planning to go into missionary
work. It is for all students who
feel the need of missionaries in
the world. Many times it has
served to help those who were
considering becoming missionar-
ies to decide, through practical
experience, if this was to be
their life's work.
Two students will be selected
from the Howard Payne campus
to go before the state screening
board for final selection of the
thirty-seven. Applications are
now being accepted and may
be obtained from the office of
Religious Activities and must
be returned to that office no
later than Wednesday, Nov. 8.
At a later date, a campus
screening committee will inter-
view all applicants and the
selection of the two students
to represent HPC will be made.
