Texas Has Plenty
of Electric Power
T EXAS-known throughout the
world for its agricultural output
and mineral resources also has an
abundance of electric power from one
of the largest power and light systems
in the South. Strategically located
steam generating plants and m o r e
than 2,000 miles of high-voltage trans-
mission lines of the Texas Power &
Light Company serves 215 T e x a s
cities and towns, together with
hundreds of industries which are en-
gaged in turning Texas' natural re-
sources into finished products. This
power system was built to serve the
Texas of today and the Industrial
Texas of the future.
The Trinidad Generating Plant,
shown in the illustration, is one of the
stations supplying energy to the Texas
Power & Light Company's transmis-
sion system. This plant has a capacity
of 53,000 horsepower, but is laid out
for ultimate expansion to 215,000
horsepower.
