of Texas are from the United States census of
1940 "Urban" population is that residing in inm-
corporated places of 2,500 or more, rural-non-
farm" population is that residing outside such
places but not on farms (primarily in small towns
and villages), "rural-farm" population is that ac-
tually residming on farms. The bureau also issues
a figure on "total farm population" which is
slightly different from "rural-farm" because it
includes the small urban population that lives on
farms (within corporate limits of places of 2,500
or more). This figure is given in other tables in
