248-Year Calendar, 1753-2000, A.D.
By this calendar one may ascertain the day of week for any day of month and year for the
period 1753-2000, inclusive. The calendar covers the period since the introduction of the new
style, t1752.
To ascertain any day of the week, first look in the table for the year required, and under
the months are figures which refer to the corresponding figures at the head of the columns of
days below. For example: To know on what day of the week Aug. 4 fell in the year 1914. in
the table of years look for 1914, and in a parallel line, under Aug., is' Fig. 6*, which directs to
Col. 6*, in which it will be seen that Aug. 4 fell on Tuesday.

BEGINNING OF YEAR
The Athenians began the year in June, the Macedomnians in September. the Romans first in
arch and afterward in January, the Persians on Aug 11, the ancient Mexicans on Feb 23.
The Chinese year. which begins late in January or early in February, is similar to the Moham-
medan year in having twelve months of twenty-nine and thirty days alternating, while in every
nineteen years there are seven years which have thirteen months. This is not quite commen-
surate with planetary movement, hence the Chinese have formed a cycle of sixty years in
which period twenty-two intercalary months occur.
