At Spring Graduation Exercises
LANDIS TO DELIVER SERMON,
RALEY COMMENCEMENT ADDRESSThe Rev. James H. Landis, pas-
tor of the First Baptist Church of
Wichita Falls, will deliver the
baccalaureate sermon this year,
Sunday morning, May 28, and Dr.
John Wesley Raley, president of
Oklahoma Baptist University
will be commencement speaker.
For the first time in many
years H-SU graduating seniors
will attend the sermon on the
campus in Behrens Chapel. Uni-
versity officials are unable to re-
call the last time a baccalaureate
was held on the campus. During
recent years graduating classes
have attended a morning sermon
at the First Baptist Church and
evening services at the University
Baptist Church.
Graduation exercises this year
will be Monday, May 29, when
approximately 300 will receive
degrees.
Dr. Raley is vice president of
the Southern Baptist Education
Association. In addition to hold-
ing various other degrees, he
completed work for a doctor's de-
gree last year at Baylor Univer-
sity. He has been president of
Oklahoma Baptist University
since 1934.
Dr. Raley has spoken before
various state Baptist convention
groups in 20 states and has also
given addresses to all types of
civic and patriotic organizations
as well as colleges, high schools
and other groups. He has deliver-
ed sermons and addresses on the
average of one a day for 15 years
and has averaged traveling 100miles per day in making such ap-
pointments.
During his administration at
the head of O. B. U., the net val-
ue assets have grown $428,000, to
some $4,000,000. The college now
has an enrollment of more than
1,400 students.

PLACEMENT SERVICE FOR
GRADS
A new placement service for
graduates of the Hardin-Simmons
School of Business Administra-
tion has been organized, it is an-
nounced by Dr. W. D. Rich, dean
of the School of Business Admin-
istration.
Developed by Dr. Rich, the
placement service will seek to
situate business students of Har-
din- Simmons with jobs in the
respective fields in which they
expect to pursue.

EX-COWGIRLS!
The ex-Cowgirls are honor-
ing the graduating Cowgirls
with a silver tea on Friday,
May 12 from 4-5 p. m. at the
Women's Club, North 2nd and
Hickory.
Reservations are $1 and
should be made by May 10.

It is hoped that all the for-
mer members of the organiza-
tion will turn out for this
meeting.

Sandefer MemorialThe annual ex-students asso-
ciation's reunion will be held on
Saturday, May 27. Exes from all
points in the nation and probably
some from the thirty foreign
countries in which they live will
be present for another time of
food, fun, and fellowship.
Mr. Jake Sandefer '20, will be
the official toastmaster, emcee,
etc., in other words he will be
in charge of the evening's festivi-
ties. Everyone will participate in
songs and memories of yester-
year. Classes ending in "0" and
"5" will be special honorees. Other
groups to be honored and rec-
ognized will be, Seniors of 1950
graduating class, ex-cowboy band
members, medical doctors and the
class of 1900 celebrating their
50th anniversary making them
eligible to join the Golden Years
Club. Gib Sandefer may be able
to be present and it is hoped that
he may give a few reminiscenes
concerning the Cowboy Band and
the true story of "Dam-it."
Surprise numbers will appear
throughout the program. Reunion
classes will be designated meeting
places over the campus. The re-
ception will be in the newly dec-
orated and remodeled "Old Anna
Hall" which will be called the
Student Union building, at 5:30
p. m. The banquet will begin at
6:30 p. m. in the university dining
hall.
The university is trying to help
make this traditional occasion the
most enjoyable and unique ever
held. The success of this reunion
will be assured by the interest
and loyalty of our exes who have
always done the BIG thing.
