A recent issue of the Erwin
Magnato contained this para-
graph: ';This is 1902. Remorseless

now in the hey-day and fizz of
1002 and the cold winds of Jan-
uary whistle around the attenua-
ted frame of tho fodderless cow
and the squeal of the unfed shote
isheard in the land.
The year 1901 has picked up
his saddle bags and lit out. The
wind is blowing cold and we
hear it whistle gloomily across
a dreary world. 'Dang it shut
the door.'"

9.S0 the cry of fire set every bo-
dy in San Angelo running down
the street towards the depot and
soon a large crowd gathered on
tho premises of Frank Harris
where his barn was being rapid-

man stormed on a match which
ignited and so frightened him
that he failed to give the alarm
until the flames wore under full
headway and beyond control.

A conservative estimate of tho
number of horses shipped from
Montana last year places tho
number at 100000. Tho Brit-
ish call for mounts for South
Africa has resulted in thousands
of head leaving tho state. Tho
result is that there aro now
fowor horses in that stato
than over before. Indeed
there aro no largo bands and
unless there is a movement of
horses to Montana from tho
South there is certain to bo a
horso famino in tho stato next'
year.
