Approves Budget
Among the many activities
pursued by the Board of Trus-
tees during their two day visit
last week were the decisions to
raise the tuition the election of
a new chairman of tho board
and participation in tho ground
breaking ceremony for tho new
campus center.
On Friday morning before at-
tending the groundbreaking
ceremony tho Board of Trustcca
passed the budget for the
1978-1079 academic year.
The budget packago includes
a tuition raise of $5 per semester
hour. This raises the tuition
from $48 to $53 per semester
hour.

today. Tho show will bo high-
lighted by tho performance of "I
Thee Wed" tho first place play
from tho recent McMurry
playwriting contest Also in-
cluded will be a reader's theatre
performance of "In the Midst of
Lifo" by Ambrose Bierce.
"I Thee Wed" was written by
Porter Richardson from Col-
orado City. The play was chosen
as tho best of seven entries in the
contest to bo performed by
McMurry theater students.
The story surrounds a young
couplo who suddenly discover
that they are not legally mar-
ried. It seems that tho girl lied
about her age sovon years ear-
lier. They both want to got leg-
ally married without everyone

students gathered near Radford
Auditorium for the formal
ground breaking ceremonies.
Aisle H. Carleton Bishop of
tho Northwest Texas and New
Mexico Conferences of the Un-
ited Methodist Church and
Rigdon Edwards former chair-
man of the board joined Dr.
Thomas Kim in turning the first
shovels of earth for the new
campus center.
District superintendents from
throughout the Northwest
Texas and New Mexico Confer-
ences of the UMC participated
in the groundbreaking along
with the McMurry officials and
representatives of local gov-
ernment and business.
Play Featured
Theatre Program
finding out about their years of
"living In sin."
The story is further compli-
cated by a young beauty a pry-
ing neighbor lady and a wise-
cracking fellow employee of the
husband.
Cindy Maloney is directing
the production. Cast members of
"I Thee Wed" include Horace
Whitt and Mary Olover as the
young couple. Tho other mem-
bers1 are Carolyn Piatt Taml
Stoker Ben Benefield and Dor-
ven Rogers.
The play 1b approximately one
hour long.
"In the Midst of Life" is a col-
lection of works by Ambrose
Bierce a horror writer. Michael
Phillips chairman of the
speech-theatro department is
directing the reader's theatre
production.

Cast members include Wins-
ton Hudson Tara Benedict
Jeanine Courtney Larry Daniel
and Donna Jean Anderson.
The reader's theatre will bo
performed twice. At 3:00 this af-
ternoon (March 23) in tho Ryan
Little Thoatre the group will
perform.
The evening program begins
at 7:30 also in the Little
Theatre. Both "I Thee Wed" and
"In the Midst of Life" will be pre-
sented then.
Admission is free and the pub-
lic is invited.

Student Government as n result
of the elections held Tuesday.
The junior pro-law major from
Mrrfn ran unopposed for the of

Also elected Tor offices for the
1978-79 school year was Cindy
Rucker Vice President. The
sophomore pro-law major from
Son Angelo beat out freshman
Diane Parpart for the job.
Thomas Wheeler from
Abilene was selected as the
MSQ Treasurer. Wheeler also
ran unopposed in that election.

Because of the Spring Break recess this -will be the
last issue of the WAR WHOOP for two weeks. The next
issue will come out Thursday April 13.
There will be one more issue following April 13 and
then we'll shut it down for Dead Week Finals and the
end of the semester.
No one officially ran for the
post of MSQ Attorney General.
The Constitution of the
McMurry Student Association
therefore provides that one be
appointed.
Balloting for the school mas-
cot Spirit Indian and six cheer
leaders also took place last
Tuesday.
Jerry Ivy was unopposed In
his race to become the school's
Spirit Indian next year.
Selected as cheerleaders for
1978-79 were Elaine Bunting
Mary Cator Diana Chubb Jan
Mason Melissa McCauley and
Roy Salazar. These six were cho-
sen from a ballot of ten which
also included Donna Jean An-
derson Connie Green Belinda
Jernigan and Sharon Thomp-
son. Petitions are currently avail-
able for persons desiring to run
for class councils or presidents.
These are due back at the MSG
office Thursday April 6.
Careers in History
SeminartobeHeld
A tri-collcgo seminar on
"Careers In History" is
scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday
April 4 at McMurry College
says Dr. Paul Lack McMurry
College history department
chairman.
"We are focusing on careers in
history outside the field of teach-
ing" says Dr. Lack.
For this purpose the seminar
will feature a panel composed of
David B. Gracy Barry Hutche-
son and Sharon Sutton all
professionals in non-teaching
history related fields.
Gracy is archivist for the
Texas State Library which takes
care of government records and
is one of the most important arc-
hive institutions in tho state.
Hutcheson is with the Texas
Department of Porks and Wild-
