Josiah Perry Alford served in Company D of the Seventh Texas Infantry from October 1861
until September 18, 1863. Wounded in the left leg at the Battle of Chickamauga, he endured
an amputation on the battlefield. Photograph, taken around r86o, is from the Alford Family file,
