. A ( : . ;In the second printing of the diary, Jesfis Sanchez Garza dropped the historically
inaccurate sketch of the Alamo from his title page, substituting this generic em-
blem of a flaming torch and crossed branches. This is the segunda edicion of June
20o, 1955, which is the earliest printing identified by John Jenkins in Basic Texas
Books. Jenkins mistakenly assumed that the first edition must have been the "sup-
pressed" one printed in 1836; in fact, the first edition had appeared only three
