Style Guide and Information for Contributors
MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
Authors are requested to submit four copies of their manuscripts and
a copy of the manuscript on disk to the Editor. We prefer that authors
submit their articles on 3k-inch disks, although 5/-inch disks are accept-
able as well. We ask that articles be submitted in the following formats:
Microsoft Word for Macintosh, version 5.0; Microsoft Word for Win-
dows; Microsoft Word for DOS; WordPerfect; MacWrite II; RFT-DCA; or
Text with Layout. If authors wish the Editor to return their manuscripts
and/or disks, they should also enclose a self-addressed envelope large
enough to accommodate the materials, and with sufficient postage af-
fixed. The title of the article should appear on the manuscript, but the
author's name should appear on a separate title page. The entire article,
including block quotations, footnotes, and figure captions, should be
printed double-spaced on one side of 8% x 1 i-inch, nonerasable white
paper with at least a one-inch margin on all four sides. Notes should be
printed as a separate section at the end of the article. All pages of the
manuscript should be numbered consecutively throughout. In most cas-
es, we consider forty pages (double-spaced, including notes) to be the
maximum acceptable length for a manuscript. Except in the case of un-
usually long articles, we prefer that transitional sentences be used in
place of subheadings or section breaks indicated by blank space.
STYLE
For most matters of style we follow the Chicago Manual of Style (13th
ed.; Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1982) with minor variations.
For spelling and hyphenation of words we follow Webster's New Collegiate
Dictionary. If notes are drafted according to the Chicago Manual, we usu-
ally find it quite easy to make any needed adjustments. Please note that
we give the names of publishers.
