As Austin boys marched off to meet the enemy during the first months of the
Civil War, the local Soldiers' Aid Society dispatched wagon loads of clothing
and blankets to the front. This benefit concert at the capitol, featuring an origi-
nal composition titled "'The Sun kissed South," filled the concert hall and raised
$125 for the cause. Broadside (9 x 6% inches). Courlesy Barker Tlexas History
Center, University of Texas at Auslin.
