REPORT ON THE
UNITED STATES AND MEX]ICAN
BOUNDARY SURVEY
By Major William H. Emory
with a new introduction by William H. Goetzmann
Falls of the Rio Salado from Report on the United States and IMexican Boundary Srvey.
This remarkable three-volume set is one of the most important books on nineteenth-
century Texas and the West. It has long been recognized for its scientific contribu-
tions and excellent maps. Today it is also recognized for the history it contains. The
Report was a publishing phenomenon when it first appeared in 1857-1859. It relates
the dramatic story of surveyors, scientists, soldiers, and artists as they conquered
and charted some the most rugged border country on the continent. The Report
demanded the best craftsmanship of pre-Civil War America, just as this facsimile
reproduction has required the best of the printer's art today. Volume seven in the
Fred H. and Ella Mae Moore Texas History Reprint Series.
Limited edition of 750 copies. Three volumes, 81/2% X 11 in., slipcased, xxx + 1,022 pages, 37
color plates, more than 350 black and white illustrations, 4 fold-out maps. $175.00 set.
