SOUTHWESTERN HISTORICAL QUARTERLY
The Association is most fortunate in being able to call on a number
of able readers to review manuscripts sent to us to consider for pub-
lication. Our editorial board-Keith L. Bryant, Jr., Don E. Carleton,
Margaret Henson, Elizabeth A. H. John, and Terry G. Jordan-in
addition to other scholars, provided valuable service this past year to
Texas studies by their very helpful comments on manuscripts that they
reviewed. We are most grateful to them and staff members Mary M.
Standifer, Barbara J. Stockley, and David W. Timmons, who rendered
their keen editorial ability to the publication of the Quarterly.
ANNUAL MEETING
El Paso turned out to be a wonderful experience for annual-meeting
goers. Association member Wilbert H. Timmons's Local Arrange-
ments Committee provided us with three days of unforgettable Trans-
Pecos hospitality. And Larry D. Hill's Program Committee (Jim B.
Pearson, James W. Pohl, T. L. Wilson, Gilbert R. Cruz, Max S. Lale,
James C. Maroney, Alexander Pratt, Byron Price, and Sheridan Nich-
ols) came through with excellent sessions. Meeting with the Historical
Society of New Mexico and with the Texas Historical Commission,
Texas Archeological Society, Society of Southwest Archivists, Texas
Folklore Society, Texas Association of Museums, and Texas Catholic
Historical Society enriched the occasion.
At the business meeting on Friday afternoon the membership elect-
ed the following officers: president, Marilyn McAdams Sibley; first
vice-president, J. P. Bryan, Jr.; and second vice-president, George R.
Woolfolk. New members elected to the Executive Council to serve
three-year terms are J. Conrad Dunagan, Robert A. Calvert, and
James W. Pohl, and to serve four-year terms, William C. Griggs, Fred
H. Moore, and Jim B. Pearson.
