Meetings
The Association will hold the I977 annual meeting in Dallas, March
3-5, at the Baker Hotel.
The Oral History Association will meet in Montebello, Quebec, Sep-
tember 9-12.
The American Association for State and Local History will meet in
Albany, New York, September 21-24.
The Society of American Archivists will meet in Washington, D.C.,
September 27-October I.
The Western History Association will meet in Denver, October I3-16.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation will meet in Philadelphia,
October 27-31.
Accessions
The Division of Archives and Manuscripts of the University of Texas at
Arlington has accessioned several collections during the past six months.
Included in these acquisitions are the papers of Oscar Mauzy, state senator
from Dallas; Sam Houston Clinton, prominent Texas attorney from Austin;
John W. (Preacher) Hays, Dallas printer and activist; and Joe Hawn,
former Dallas state representative. Additional records have been received
from the United States Department of Labor and the Texas AFL-CIO.
Work has been completed on the Frank Morton Papers, the Tarrant
County Civil Liberties Union records, and the Papers of the late William
Clitheroe, grand lodge representative for the International Association of
Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Notable additions to the Oral History Collection include interviews with
Hank Rabun of the Steelworkers of Dallas, and Sam Twedell, former'
director of District 5 of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Work-
men of North America.
The founding of Texas Tech University and the West Texas Chamber
of Commerce are the subjects of new oral history tapes in Texas Tech
University's Southwest Collection. The tapes were recorded with W. Hamil-
ton Wright, a journalist who toured with the Texas Tech Locating Board
and also served as WTCC publicity director.98
