The Association will hold its 1976 annual meeting in Galveston, March
4-6. .
Accessions
In February, i975, the Archives of the Texas State Library accessioned
the William Deming Hornaday Collection of twelve volumes of typed tran-
scripts of letters written home during World War I by Texas soldiers
serving overseas, a small group of books and magazines concerning Texas,
and one four-drawer file cabinet of photographs accumulated throughout
a journalistic career that covered nearly half a century. Donated by his son,
Joe Hornaday, the entire collection is of great value, but the photograph
files are an incomparable addition to the Archives' holdings. Composed of
more than 5,ooo pictures on subjects ranging from agriculture and alfalfa
to Woodrow Wilson and women, the collection is. a multi-faceted reflection
of life in the early part of the twentieth century.
A collection of early twentieth-century forestry literature has been pre-
sented to Texas A&M University in memory of Cyril B. Webster. Included
in the set are textbooks, pamphlets, and several documents related to Web-
ster's experiences as a forestry pioneer.

The Red River Valley Historical Association and the Texas State His-
torical Association are pleased to announce the Ernest Wallace Award.
Established by the Red River Valley Historical Association, the $1o0 prize
is to be given at the annual meeting to the contributor of the best article on
Indians or the Great Plains area published in the current volume of the
Southwestern Historical Quarterly. Professor of history at Texas Tech Uni-
versity and a vice-president of the Association, Wallace is one of the state's
leading historians.
