Meetings
The Association will hold its 1976 annual meeting in Galveston March
4-6.
The United States Commission on Military History is hosting an inter-
national conference in Washington, D.C., August i4- 19.
Accessions
A collection of research material for Mexican-American studies has been
donated by Mario T. Garcia to the Serra Museum Research Library of
the San Diego Historical Society in California. The collection focuses on the
Chicano movement between I969 and i974.
Clippings
Under the congenial leadership of Kenneth B. Ragsdale and Lucretia
Graham, forty-nine new chapters have been added to the roster of active
Junior Historian chapters. Considerable assistance has been provided by
the Webb Societies at San Jacinto Junior College, where Edward D. Bridges
is chairman of the Department of History; at Wayland Baptist College,
with Gwin Morris as chairman of the history department; at Lubbock
Christian College, where Dick Laird, John Hill, and Bill Leftwich co-
sponsor the Webb Society; and by the Heart O'Texas Heritage 'Society in
Waco, Sam Newman, president. The San Jacinto Webb Society sponsors
nine of the new chapters; Wayland Baptist College, six; Lubbock Christian
College, fifteen; and the Heart O' Texas Heritage Society, eight.
Billy Mac Jones, elected president of the TSHA at the annual meeting
in March, is one of our hardest working members. Over the past five years
he has brought hundreds of.new members into the Association through a
state-wide solicitation program of doctors, lawyers, dentists, and libraries.
