I. The Confederate States vs. W. P. M. Means.
The Charges in the Above case are, "Alien Enemy," and "Failure
to comply with the terms of General Order No. 5."

II. The Military Commission in Session at San Antonio, before
whom the above case was tried, fined the said W. P. M. Means,
"Guilty" of the Charges, and sentence him as follows:
"To be sent beyond the limits of the Confederate States not to
return during the existence of the present war, under penalty of
Death."

III. The findings & sentence of the Commission are approved,
and are ordered to be carried into execution.71

71W. P. M. Means and J. R. Radcliff were sent to Ringgold Barracks on August
22 for deportation without any personal possessions except blankets. After the
war, Means made at least tentative inquires about recovering property he was
