538 Southwestern Historical Quarterly
located about twenty miles west of Austin. For a number of
years this property was owned by the late Walter Prescott Webb,
and is now owned and used by Captain Rodney Kidd as a boys'
camp, and known as Friday Mountain Camp. Johnson was
known as "Old Bristletop" because he rarely, if ever, combed
his hair.
If a Texan wants to know whence he came, this book, both
the autobiography and the notes, is exciting and authentic
reading.
