WALTER C. CONWAY, "Colonel Edmund Schriver's Inspector-
General's Report on Military Posts in Texas, November, 1872-
January, 1873," who died in the summer of 1963, had received
degrees from Hardin-Simmons University and the United States
Military Academy, and had taught at West Point. After retiring
as a colonel in the United States Army, he had returned to Texas
to teach at McCallum High School in Austin and later to continue
his graduate studies in history at the University of Texas while
serving as a member of the Association staff.
